ECNWM Delegation in a meeting with President Siljanovska Davkova: Joint commitment to economic development

The President of the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia, Mr. Mendi Qyra, accompanied by the Honorary President, Mr. Xhemail Dauti, and the Executive Director, Mr. Durim Zeqiri, were welcomed in an official meeting by the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Ms. Gordana Siljanovska Davkova.

In his speech, President Qyra emphasized that ECNWM remains committed to the three main pillars, which are prerequisites for the country’s economic development: fighting corruption, formalizing the gray economy and the rule of law. One of the main challenges that continues to hinder the development of the private sector is the lack of labor in the country. In this regard, Mr. Qyra presented to the President the ECNWM concept for increasing the minimum wage, emphasizing that it is necessary to make maximum use of local potential before seeking labor from abroad. Both sides agreed that this issue requires a sustainable solution, which should start with fundamental reforms in the education system.

President Siljanovska Davkova expressed readiness for cooperation, especially in areas that are within her competence, such as official visits to other countries, inviting the ECNWM to contribute with its requests and expertise. She also highlighted the possibility of ECNWM representatives being part of official delegations, when the opportunity for this is created.

Furthermore, the ECNWM representatives welcomed the President’s initiative to establish the National Council for Cooperation with the Diaspora and expressed their readiness to actively participate in its work. In this context, the Chamber also proposed that an economic advisor be appointed to the President’s Cabinet, as a necessary link for coordination and strengthening communication between the Economic Chambers and the Presidential Cabinet.

The meeting took place in a constructive spirit, confirming the importance of a continuous dialogue between the business community and the highest state institutions to address challenges and create a more favorable climate for the country’s economic development.
