ECNWM and the Coalition Vlen sign the ECNWM’s Platform for Economic Development of RNM”

02.05.2024, Skopje – Following the meetings with the political parties, a second meeting was held in the premises of ECNWM, where the president Mr. Mendi Qyra together with the leadership of the Chamber welcomed the representatives from the coalition Vlen, Mr. Bilall Kasami, Mr. Izet Medjiti, Mr. Afrim Gashi and Mrs. Bujare Abazi.
During the meeting, some key problems faced by the economy of our country were discussed, as well as taking measures to improve the obstacles that prevent the country’s economic well-being.
President Qyra emphasized the importance of a stable and qualified workforce for the needs of the labor market, for which measures should be taken to prevent the migration of the youth. With the increase of the minimum net salary in the private sector to 30,000 denars, the reduction of contributions to 32% of the net salary, liberalization of the labor force in the region, as well as reforms in the education system especially those occupations that are in shortage, will enable the creation of optimal conditions for the workers in the country and the living standard of the citizens of RNM will be increased.
Coalition Vlen emphasized that most of the points of the ECNWM’s Platform are also included in the coalition’s platform, and that they will be properly implemented if they will be part of the next government. What is important for the business sector is that the coalition in question has integrated and accepted ECNWM’s long-standing request for a reduction in contribution, which will help citizens and businesses in particular.
Also, the representatives of the Coalition presented additional points from their Platform, including the energy sector, fiscal decentralization of municipalities, the increase of the minimum wage, as well as the free economic zones, while the members of ECNWM also placed special emphasis on the Law on legalization, conduct of urban planning and the functioning of institutions.
Among other things, the executive director of ECNWM Mr. Durim Zeqiri also discussed the functioning of the platform for Public-Private Dialogue, stressing that this platform should not be interrupted as it is an adequate opportunity in which the Economic Chambers can submit their direct requests to the government, as well as show their expertise when it comes towards economic growth and development of the country. He also mentioned the case of the floods in Singilich, where many businesses were damaged by this natural phenomenon, while the Government’s promise to help the damaged businesses has not yet been fulfilled.
Coalition Vlen signed the RNM Platform for Economic Development and they declared that if they become part of the next Government, they will integrate the Chamber’s requirements into the Government program and will also adequately commit to their implementation during the 2024-2027 period.
