Tax relief and greater protection of tax payers, mandatory during the covid19
The Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia, Association of Economic Chambers, Economic Chamber of Macedonia, Chamber of Commerce for Information and Communication Technology – MASIT and EPI Centar as implementer, within the USAID project Partnership for Better Business Regulation organized an info session to present the findings and proposals of two studies in the field of taxation.
The study “Tax procedure and legal remedies for protection of the rights of taxpayers with special emphasis on legal entities” was prepared to improve the level of protection of taxpayers in the Republic of North Macedonia in accordance with the Law on Tax Procedure. Also, the study “Financial and tax implications of the COVID19 crisis and recommendations for overcoming it” provides data and analysis of the challenges faced by companies and serves to initiate specific short-term and long-term solutions for tax relief and support measures.
The protection of the rights of taxpayers in the tax procedure is always an issue due to the specifics of the tax-legal relationship in which often the active entity, i.e. the state dominates, which creates conditions for endangering the rights of taxpayers. Especially in times of crisis when the tax authorities face the challenge of securing sufficient financial resources for the normal functioning of the state.
With the concrete solutions proposed by the experts and the private sector we should enable better management of the financial consequences of the COVID crisis19 and the proper creation of state aid measures through tax relief and better protection of private entities. The proposals
that will result from the info session dedicated to tax policies will be submitted to the competent authorities through the Platform for Public-Private Dialogue.
