HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND PEOPLE WILL FEEL THE CORONA-CRISIS INTO THEIR POCKETS

Drilon Iseni from the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia says that if there is a second wave of the corona virus, the protection measures will have to be more lenient, because the companies will not be able to endure one more closure. “Government measures to help the business sector in the future should not be so general, but should be aimed at specific sectors that have a problem,” he said.

As for public debt, which has exceeded 50 percent of GDP, this is expected, given that revenues are declining on every basis, imports and exports are also falling, and so this is reflected.

The challenge for the next government is that businesses have been badly damaged by the crisis, money in state coffers is smaller and there is a great opportunity to close many businesses and lose jobs. Therefore, more important than the level of public debt is that those funds are spent on state activities which will have added value, says Iseni.

He says that state aid to companies for the payment of the minimum wage should continue in July and August.
