The member companies of the city of Struga in a work meeting with the Public Revenue Office – It was discussed the improvement of tax services

12.08.2024, Struga – In the premises of the member company Trim & Lum in Struga, a meeting was held between the member companies of the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia (ECNWM) and high-level representatives of the Public Revenue Office (PRO). The executive director of ECNWM, Mr. Durim Zekiri, welcomed this initiative of PRO by assessing the importance of deepening the cooperation between state institutions and the private sector to guarantee economic stability and sustainable growth.

During the meeting, the provisions of the Law on registration of cash payments, the Law on Value Added Tax, and the Law on Personal Income Tax were widely discussed. The services offered by PRO were also discussed, with the aim of improving these services and adapting them to the needs of the business community. This will enable easier and more effective access to advice and information through responsible people from PRO, who are at the service of businesses.

ECNWM member companies discussed recent changes in tax legislation and their impact on the business sector, controls and inspections, tax incentives and so on, thus appreciating that addressing these topics can help build a strong and mutual relationship for economic well-being.

Mr. Zekiri in his speech emphasized the importance of a strategic focus on the part of the PRO to fight the informal economy and reduce its rate. Also, since North Macedonia has the highest contributions in the region, Mr. Zekiri also mentioned the long-standing initiative of ECNWM to increase the minimum wage to 30,000 denars and to reduce contributions to 32%, with which we will keep the labor force in the country, given the statistics that show the massive departure of the youth.

ECNWM remains committed to promoting a fruitful dialogue and close cooperation between the private sector and state institutions, addressing existing challenges and creating a favorable environment for the further development of the economy.
