18.09.2024, Skopje – President Qyra was invited as a panelist at the international conference organized and financially supported by the European Union and the Ministry of Economy and Labor “Business angels and entrepreneurial ecosystem in North Macedonia: Opportunities and challenges”.

In the framework of the Project “Corporate social responsibility and business angels – the driving force for private sector development”, President Qyra was a speaker in the first panel discussion on the topic “Identification of policy needs for increasing angel investments in North Macedonia”, along with other panelists, Mr. Taki Fiti, Mr. Branko Azeski and Mr. Igor Madzov.

President Qyra emphasized that the local government should be more independent in the field of the fiscal system, it should be allowed to collect more taxes, and the taxes that the central government receives should be used for infrastructure. Meanwhile, more efficient access to finance should be enabled, namely grants for companies, which we believe are necessary for the stimulation of good business practices that will contribute to society.

He also stated that the Economic Chambers play a key role in bridging the gap between traditional businesses and innovative start-up companies, creating a bridge between them that helps in the economic development of the country. Through support and networking, they accelerate the transformation of traditional businesses and the development of innovative start-up companies. One of the main ways is to provide training focused on technology and innovation, which help traditional businesses to be contemporary.

President Qyra further added that in this next period, start-up companies must contribute to economic diversification, bringing what existing companies have not been able to do, thus bringing technological advancement to the market, and digitalization, which will accelerate economic activity.

The Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia plays an important role in raising awareness of the value that innovative startups bring to the market, by offering platforms for the support and development of new businesses.
