“Sustainable Business Day” – The Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia encourages sustainable business practices

Skopje, 13.06.2024 – “Sustainable Business Day” is the event which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Skopje, organized by the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia (ECNWM). Its goal was to stimulate discussion on the importance of sustainable practices in the business sector and to promote innovative solutions that contribute to positive social changes in the direction of energy efficiency and ecological waste management.

Within the framework of the event, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Driving sustainable business practices in North Macedonia”. Five companies – Multipark Izairi, Vezë Shari, Inospektar, Likuki Home and BFM – received a sustainability certificate that demonstrates their engagement and willingness to innovate in environmental protection and a more sustainable future. At the same time, networking was enabled for potential future cooperation between the attendees.

According to the President of ECNWM, Mr. Mendi Qyra: “Aspirations for integration in the European Union are an additional incentive for us to focus on reforms that lead us to create and transform into sustainable businesses, reducing costs, preserving the environment and ensuring our ecological, economic and financial future for the next generations”. He invited all companies to capitalize on the opportunities offered by ECNWM, considering that the Chamber cooperates with relevant partners with outstanding expertise such as USAID, Strategic Development Consulting and Association for Management Consulting MKA 2000.

The representative from USAID North Macedonia – Mrs. Lee Weber – also addressed the event, who pointed out that energy efficiency is significant for economic prosperity and sustainable growth. ” As we stand at the crossroads of a transformative era, you – the private sector – should feel empowered. Sustainable business practice can reshape the energy landscape. Your investments can make energy efficiency the norm. ”

The focus of the project implemented by ECNWM as part of the “Business Support Organizations Champions Activity” is the introduction of new member services for energy efficient solutions and environmental protection to contribute to the sustainability of the energy system by reducing the use of fossil fuels, tackling the climate crisis and preserving the environment.

“As a result of the partnership with USAID and our company, the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia has developed two new services – energy audit and waste management – which will help companies to be more resistant to crises and adapt to the requirements of the European market in direction of green transformation, energy-efficient infrastructure and improved economic competitiveness,” said Kristina Hadji-Vasileva, the executive director of Strategic Development Consulting.

The initiative “Green Business Leaders”© implemented by the ECNWM in cooperation with MKA 2000, is part of the project ” Business Support Organizations Champions Activity” financed by USAID and implemented by Strategic Development Consulting.
