05.12.2024 – The President of the ECNWM, Mr. Mendi Qyra, participated in the Government meeting regarding the promotion of the New Year’s consumer basket. This basket includes a selection of food products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, proposed by manufacturers and traders, which will be offered to citizens, where more than 600 items are listed at low prices during the festive period from December 15 to January 15.
At this meeting, the heads of government spoke, where the Prime Minister Mr. Mickoski, in his speech, welcomed the initiative of the Economic chambers and businessmen of the country, who with this measure will help citizens and contribute to slowing inflation.
Furthermore, presidents of the Economic Chambers attended, and in his speech, Mr. Mendi Qyra emphasized that the members of the ECNWM have supported this initiative voluntarily, proposing price reductions for several products. The list of proposals has already been submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Labor. He underlined that the state intervention in the market is not consistent with the principles of a market economy. However, to address challenges such as inflation, the state can use mechanisms such as tax breaks, customs duties and excise, as well as strategic investment in the development and growth of domestic industry. However, businesses will be ready to play the role of a partner with the government, when requested but also when they will be treated as such.
Among others, the Minister of Economy and Labor, Mr. Durmishi, emphasized that after a considerable period, an agreement was reached with the business sector to create this New Year’s basket.
The President of the ECNWM also spoke about the “Hungarian Loan”, which as a measure is considered positive by the business community, and that it should serve as a model for the coming year, in order to have effective economic measures with a direct impact.
