ECNWM in an official meeting with the Public Revenue Office: Strategic reforms for the improvement of fiscal policies and support for local businesses

25.10.2024, Skopje – President of the Economic Chamber of North – West Macedonia (ECNWM), Mr. Mendi Qyra, together with the Executive Director, Mr. Durim Zekiri, and the member of the Managing Board of ECNWM, Mr. Sami Morina, held an official meeting with the Public Revenue Office, where they were they were welcomed by the Director of this institution, Ms. Elena Petrova.

This meeting was carried out in the wake of the activities foreseen in the annual plan, thus addressing the demands and complaints of the membership of the chamber regarding their work with this very important institution.

During the discussion, President Qyra spoke about many topics that affect business in general and especially the problems that businesses encounter during the reinvestment of profits, the gray economy and the fight against it, and so on. In this meeting, there was a discussion about finding solutions to these phenomena or problems, in order to help businesses with the realization of their rights, and especially through increasing the capacities of the relevant institutions, which will serve businesses in a better way efficient.

Key issues for the development of supportive fiscal policies for the private sector and the improvement of the business climate were also discussed. Discussions included the creation of relief for local businesses, with the aim of stimulating growth and economic development.

In the conversation, Mr. Sami Morina, who expressed concerns about the delay in the return of VAT, which is greatly burdening the liquidity of companies, while additionally suggested that in the future the possibility of refunding the same during the import of products or services should be considered, in order not to hold the company’s liquid assets hostage.

The Economic Chamber of North – West Macedonia and the Public Revenue Office have a common goal of fighting against the informal economy, aiming to reduce this phenomenon and create a more transparent and fair environment for local businesses
