The meeting was also attended by Deputy Governors Dr. Fadil Bajrami and Ms. Emilija Nacevska, as well as the Governor’s advisor.
Acting President Nuhi Aliu congratulated the Governor on his new position, emphasizing that ECNWM remains committed to open, direct, and constructive cooperation with the National Bank, considering the key role this institution plays in financial stability, the development of the banking market, and the creation of facilitating conditions for the private sector.
During the meeting, the ECNWM delegation presented several concrete proposals of importance for the financial business climate, including:
- Reduction of interest rates on loans, as without affordable financing, businesses face difficulties in planning and implementing investments.
- Reducing the POS-terminal transaction fee, currently at 3%, which presents a significant burden for companies and stimulates defiscalization.
- Acceptance of deposits in investment funds as collateral for obtaining loans.
- Review of bank commissions, which have seen a significant increase.
- Setting limits on loan installment rates, to avoid potential social consequences for citizens and businesses.
- Considering the introduction of a dual-currency monetary system, with the objective of increasing flexibility in monetary transactions, strengthening liquidity, and facilitating international trade.
Other issues directly affecting the liquidity and competitiveness of enterprises were also highlighted.
Regarding monetary policy, Governor Dr. Slaveski emphasized that the National Bank is closely monitoring economic developments and is prepared to respond appropriately with all instruments at its disposal to maintain the stability of the exchange rate and prices. The Governor appreciated the suggestions presented and expressed readiness to examine them in detail, confirming that the door for further cooperation remains always open.
ECNWM remains committed to strongly representing the interests of the business community and developing dialogue with key institutions for a more sustainable and competitive economic environment.
